SPIN is a voluntary organisation set up in 2005 to provide information to single parent families and operates in Brighton & Hove & surrounding areas of Sussex. This is provided proactively via regular postings on our SPIN Facebook group where members can also post and ask each other for advice.
Thanks to Household Support Funding over the last two years from Brighton & Hove city council, SPIN has distributed supermarket vouchers and funding for household furniture and white goods.
Regular information is posted about local events, activities, training, jobs, free donations, free tickets. SPIN has facilitated tickets to the Dome, made referrals for grocery and energy vouchers, distributed donated makeup/toileteries.
A recent social media callout to help families in emergency and temporary accommodation produced an amazing response of donations of household goods to really help them get back on their feet and included clothing as well as gifts.
Members also referred to Pelican Parcels who provide free children's clothes, toys, toileteries all year round plus Christmas presents for the entire family. SPIN will be working with Pelican Parcels and Dunelm to provide gifts for the single parent families again in December 2025.
SPIN has been given access to an amazing hub courtesy of the Benefact Group who also provide resources to support community groups, allowing volunteers to work in a great office at Ansvar Insurance in Brighton.
