SPIN is a voluntary organisation set up in 2005 to provide information to single parent families and operates in Brighton & Hove & surrounding areas of Sussex. This is provided proactively via regular postings on our SPIN facebook group where members can also post and ask each other for advice.
Regular information is posted about local events, activities, training, jobs, free donations, free tickets. In 2022 SPIN ran a scheme to help members collect/deliver items bought on free sites but also paid for members to utilise the council's bulky waste collection to reduce flytipping and recycle items. Members without vehicles found this very helpful and so SPIN is rerunning this project in 2025.
SPIN has facilitated tickets to the Dome, made referrals for grocery and energy vouchers, distributed donated makeup/toileteries, takeaway coffee cups, socks, and a huge donation of Neom hand & body wash. Members also referred to Pelican Parcels who provide free children's clothes, toys, toileteries all year round plus Christmas presents for the entire family. SPIN previously worked with Dunelm in 2023 to provide gifts for the single parents and will do so again Christmas 2025.
SPIN has been given access to an amazing hub courtesy of the Benefact Group who also provide resources to support community groups, allowing volunteers to work in a great office at Ansvar Insurance in Brighton.
